Basketball Director's Message:

FPYC Basketball is getting ready for the 2007-08 basketball season with our on-line registration now up and running at FPYC’s Website at fpycsports.com.  In addition, we will have two in-person registration events at the FPYC Clubhouse (at Providence Park) on October 6 and October 27, 2007, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  Registrations received on or before October 15, 2007, will be $70 per player.  Registrations received after October 15, 2005, will be $90 per player, so save yourself some money and REGISTER EARLY OVER THE INTERNET!!!  Our house leagues close off registrations in November, and our select teams will have their tryouts start on October 1, 2007.

FPYC Basketball offers house leagues for boys and girls from 7 to 18 years of age.  Player evaluations for the house leagues will take place in November at Providence Elementary School or Daniels Run Elementary School and you can view the evaluation schedule for all of the house leagues at the FPYC Website (fpycsports.com) once we get our gym space finalized.  Once a player has registered, whether via the FPYC Website or at the Clubhouse, it is imperative that you mark your calendar for the date of the evaluation session for your league.  The evaluation session enables all of the coaches for the league in question to observe the players’ abilities so that they can be chosen in a draft later in November.  Players who attend the evaluation session for their league after registering at the Clubhouse or via the FPYC Website are guaranteed a spot on a team.  Players who fail to attend the evaluation session will still have to be evaluated by the League Director at the League Director’s convenience and might have to be placed on a waiting list.  REGISTER NOW AND ATTEND THE RIGHT EVALUATION SESSION!

FPYC Basketball is also fielding eight select teams of various ages for boys and girls to compete in the Fairfax County Youth Basketball League against select teams from other youth clubs throughout the County.  The select teams will start their tryouts on October and the final cuts for select teams will come soon after tryouts end on October 12.   The Select tryout schedule will be posted at the FPYC Website once our gym space is finalized.  Once the rosters of the Select teams are set, players who have not been chosen to play on a Select team can still attend the FPYC house league evaluation and play in the appropriate house league.  The Assistant Director for the FPYC Select Basketball Program is Kirk Intermill.  If you have any questions about the Select Basketball Program, please feel free to contact Kirk at (703) 346-2313.

As always, we need volunteers to help us out with our basketball program, and you can sign up as a volunteer at the FPYC Website.  The only persons who are paid for their services in the basketball program are the referees, and you can also sign up for that work at the “Volunteer Registration” section of the FPYC Basketball Website.
