THE PETER BANKS TRAIL RUN AND FPYC
YOUTH CROSS COUNTRY INVITATIONAL
Thank you for making this event a success. This was our best turnout yet, contributions were extremely generous, and we hope you had fun. This is our third annual race and fun run/walk to recognize the founding father of the FPYC Running program, the late Peter Banks. Coach Banks fought a courageous battle with colon cancer and passed away in July 2007.
The date for this year's event is Sunday, September 27, 2009 at 1:00 PM. Please note the change in time - previously, promotional material had advertised a 9:00 AM start.
This is a unsponsored non-competitive event. We will time the event, but there will be no published results, age group breakouts, or awards. Come on out to get some exercise and fresh air, and still be home by halftime! Walk or jog on our 2 kilometer (1.24 miles) trail/grass loop course, or run our 5 kilometer (3.10 miles) one (one short loop and two large loops). Suggested donation to participate is $5, or $15 if you would like a nifty event t-shirt.
There is no advance or on-line registration for this event. All registration will take place on-site the afternoon of the event.
Registration will be from 12:00 noon to 1:00 PM
Kickoff will be at 1:00
We will go forward rain or shine.
Participants are invited to stay around after the event to cheer on youth participants in the Peter Banks Cross Country Invitational, beginning at 2:00 PM. Members of local youth running clubs will be racing.

Net proceeds from the day will be donated to the American Cancer Society, the charitable organization chosen by the Banks family.
The location is back in the City of Fairfax, at Van Dyck Park. The address for Van Dyck Park is 3720 Old Lee Highway / Fairfax / 22020. There is parking at Van Dyck Park, at the City of Fairfax police station adjacent (south) to the park, and at Daniels Run Elementary School, just across the street. Parking is NOT permitted at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, which is just north of the park.
Our success is dependent on word-of-mouth exposure. Please plan on joining us for a fitting tribute to a man that impacted hundreds of young runners in the central Fairfax area. You need not have been a part of the Running program or even to have known Peter to come out to this event to recognize his contributions to FPYC. Please mark your calendars, spread the word, and join us!
