Welcome to FPYC Basketball:
Online registration for the FPYC Basketball winter session is open. We offer reduced rates for scholarship players (those who participate in the Federal Free Lunch program at school). We only have a total of 50 Scholarships league wide that are only offered for the winter season. Scholarship players will pay $50 for house registration (the late fee of $45 will NOT be waived for scholarship players, only the base house fee, so register early if you are scholarship eligible). If your child meets these criteria, you MUST register in person and bring a copy of your benefits, or eligibility, letter with you to be considered. PLEASE DO NOT COMPLETE THIS ONLINE REGISTRATION FORM. If you have questions, please contact Debi Honaker at firstname.lastname@example.org.
FPYC Basketball offers house leagues for boys and girls from 7 to 18 years of age. Player evaluations for the house leagues will take place in November and you can view the evaluation schedule for all of the house leagues on the house evaluation page once we get our gym space finalized. Once a player has registered, whether via the Registration page on this website or at the Clubhouse, IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT YOU MARK YOUR CALENDAR FOR THE DATE OF THE EVALUATION SESSION FOR YOUR LEAGUE. The evaluation session enables all of the coaches for the league in question to observe the players’ abilities so that they can be chosen in a draft later in November. Players who attend the evaluation session for their league after registering at the Clubhouse or via the Registration page on this website are guaranteed a spot on a team. Players who fail to attend the evaluation session will still have to be evaluated by the League Director at the League Director’s convenience and might have to be placed on a waiting list. REGISTER SOON AND ATTEND THE CORRECT EVALUATION SESSION!
FPYC Basketball is also fielding several select teams for boys and girls in 5th through 8th grades to compete in the Fairfax County Youth Basketball League against select teams from other youth clubs throughout the County. The select teams will start their tryouts on October 1, and the final cuts for select teams will come soon after tryouts end in mid-October. YOU MUST COMPLETE A MANUAL REGISTRATION FORM AT THR TRY OUT, BEFORE YOU MAY PARTICIPATE IN ANY WAY WITH THE SELECT PROGRAM. Once you have been selected for the team, the coach will send you a separate link where you will pay the remainder of the registration fees associated with the select program. Select players pay the house fee (either $135 or $180, depending on when you register), as well as an additional $30 select fee (which is used to cover the additional cost of participating the FCYBL select league).
Scholarship eligible players who participate in the select program will be required to pay the full $30 select fee, in addition to the reduced house fee and any other fees associated with the select program (uniforms and such).
The select tryout schedule is posted on the FPYC website. Once the rosters of the select teams are set, players who have not been chosen to play on a select team can still attend the FPYC house league evaluation and play in the appropriate house league. The Assistant Director for the FPYC Select Basketball Program is George Ragan. If you have any questions about the Select Basketball Program, please feel free to contact George at (703.786.9861) or George@yoursportspage.com.
Finally, please always remember that this is a family/community league. I expect parents to cheer for both teams at every game (this includes the select teams) and behave like responsible adults/fans. I expect coaches to set the example and to manage their parents at each game.
Any disrespectful behavior to referees, players, coaches, or other parents will result in your removal from the gym, which will most likely result in your being banned from attending any further games or practices for the rest of the season. It has not been an issue to date, but I cannot stress enough how important good sportsmanship is to FPYC.
See you on the courts!
