Lacrosse FAQs

When are practices?

We typically get permits for the turf fields at Oak Marr REC Center for three weeknights between 5:00 – 8:00 and Saturdays from 8:00am-12:00pm, but we will not know for certain until we get our field permits in late February/early March.

We have a pre-K or kindergarten aged athlete.  What happened to Little Scoopers?

Little Scoopers is now included in our Flex6 Program.

Other than practices, is there anything included with registration?

Every player who registered will receive a FPYC lacrosse t-shirt and a practice pinnie.  For our NVYLL team players, uniforms will need to be purchased at the beginning of the season.  Team players will also need to provide their own USA Lacrosse approved equipment (see the Equipment & Uniform section on our website). Please email us if this is a concern.

My athlete is new to the sport.  What should we do?

We suggest that you sign up for the Flex 6 Program. It is focused on individual skills and small sided games.

My athlete also wants to play another sport.  What if we can’t make all practices or games?

We encourage multi-sport participation and will work with your athlete to make the most of their time when they are on the lacrosse field with us.

Will you be able to field a team for the NVYLL league at each age group?

Our plan is to put teams into the NVYLL for as many age groups as possible. We will not know until we start to get numbers in for registration. As soon as we start to get a clear picture as to what teams we will be able to field, we will reach out to those athletes and their guardians.

Why do we need to have a USA Lacrosse membership to participate with FPYC Lacrosse?

FPYC Lacrosse uses the USA Lacrosse Insurance Program that extends only to teams that are 100% registered with USA Lacrosse. In order for our program to be covered by the General Liability and Excess Liability policies, all players and coaches must be currently registered with USA Lacrosse.  Additionally, as a player USA Lacrosse member, you have benefits such as insurance coverage that travels with you anywhere in your lacrosse journey, print subscription to USA Lacrosse Magazine, and discounts/exclusive offers from the USA Lacrosse Shop and their partners.

How can I help?

We are glad you asked. We are always looking for volunteer coaches. No experience needed. Just some patience and willingness to have fun and learn with our athletes.  Please email us if you would like to help.
