Message from the Director of Soccer - Fall 2020

09/20/2020

Parents/Players/Coaches,

Please note that we have been unable to get enough coaches to volunteer within the U11-U19 age groups to safely begin practice on Monday 9/21.  First and foremost we must ensure that we have coaches that will work with the players we have within all of our age groups and at present we simply do not have enough to start practice with in the U11-U19 age groups.

We have heard from many parents who have stood up and volunteered to be field monitors - we Thank You - for your commitment to FPYC Soccer and we appreciate all of you.  With that said - we can't put players on fields without coaches.

We sincerely appreciate that some of you are not able or willing to coach this season but we also know that there are many of you who will step up if needed and coach out players - We really need you to step up and coach!

Once again - it pains me to say this but - we are pushing the start of practices to Monday 9/28 for the U11-U19 age groups because we don't have the appropriate number of coaches to get this kicked off.

Thanks,

Tony Deflumeri

Parents, Players, Coaches & Volunteers,

We shared an update with you this week with respect to what the fall season will look like at FPYC Soccer.  We shared that we would be running practices - no games - as we tried to adhere to the VA State guidelines for youth sports.  We shared that we need your collective support in the form of volunteers to staff our fields - the need for field marshals to support our coaches and players.  We shared that we were going to kick-off the season on 9/14 for the U11 through U19 age groups and that we were going to kick-off the season on 9/21 for the U5 through U10 age groups.

Thanks to those of you who responded to our request for volunteers - with that said we did not get the response we needed to safely start practicing.  Our first priority this fall is to ensure a safe environment for our players, coaches, volunteers and their families.  We will not start practice this fall without the necessary volunteers as it is simply not right to put players, coaches and volunteers into a situation that is not controlled and does not provide for the proper adherence to state mandated Covid-19 guidelines

We ask you all once again to help FPYC Soccer this season - to help us get our players back on soccer fields and to volunteer to help us get the season underway. Please email dosfpycsoccer@yahoo.com if you are able to volunteer and support putting our players back onto soccer fields.

We are moving the start date of the season up to provide us more time to secure the necessary volunteers to staff field marshal positions.

As of now - the start of the fall season for the U11 through U19 age groups will be the week of 9/21 and the start of the fall season for the U5 through U10 age groups will be the week of 9/28.

Please note that these start dates are conditional and based on getting volunteers to staff field marshal positions.

We sincerely appreciate your collective support.  We sincerely appreciate the unique circumstance that we are all in (Covid-19) and as such we sincerely hope that with your collective help that we will be able to get a fall season going in the next two weeks.

Thanks,

Tony Deflumeri
